I tried their chicken and beef empanadas and both were delicious. Recommend checking this spot out if you're craving some Cuban cuisine. I'll be back to try their sandwiches and meat plates!

I stopped by Habana Express on a Monday with a serious craving for a Cubano sandwich, and wow--this place absolutely delivered! From the first bite, I knew I had found something special. The Cubano sandwich was nothing short of amazing. The bread was perfectly pressed and crispy, the meats were flavorful and tender, and the cheese melted just right. Every component worked together harmoniously, creating a sandwich that was truly unforgettable. To top it off, they had a promotion that day where you get a free side with the purchase of a sandwich. I chose the fries with a side of their spicy sauce, and it was the perfect complement. The fries were crispy and well-seasoned, and the spicy sauce added a delicious kick that tied everything together. What really stood out was the attention to detail. Every element of the meal felt carefully crafted, from the quality of the ingredients to the balance of flavors. The spicy sauce, in particular, was a standout--it elevated the entire experience. The service was friendly and efficient, and the overall vibe of the place was welcoming and relaxed. It's clear that Habana Express takes pride in what they do, and it shows in every bite. If you're in the mood for an incredible Cubano sandwich or just want to enjoy a meal that's made with care, Habana Express is a must-visit. I can't recommend it enough--this is a 5/5 experience all the way!

Finally got around to trying this place. It is located within a shopping center with a Safeway so there is plenty of parking. They have a handful of tables inside and outside so places to eat. We were not starving and decided to split a Cubano sandwich combo. For the combo, you get a choice of fries and we went with tostones (fried plantains). The Cubano sandwich was pretty big and pretty true to a classic Cuban sandwich - nicely toasted bread, multiple meats, cheese and pickles. The tostones were nice - a disc of plantains deep fried, with just a bit of salt and a great lime and cilantro dipping sauce. We were tempted by but did not order the guava pastries (think Portos-like). Maybe next time for the pastries. Their menu had different bowls, which seemed pretty popular with other customers.

I'm back to try more, love the food! The ladies at the register are always nice and helpful Food notes: Old School Sandwich (Stars 4 $13.99) The beef was juicy, tender and full of flavor. The grilled bread held up to the heavy beef. Plenty of Swiss cheese to hold it all together. Really good. The hot sauces (yellow and red) workrd great with the sandwich. Loved them both. Tres Leches Cake (Stars 5 $5.49) one of the best I've had, really good! Fanta (Canned Soda) (Stars 3 $1.99) Orange soda, nothing special, but good. They were out of their pineapple soda, which is better Until next time... Next time try: Loaded Tostones Garlic shrimp Bowl Chicken Empanada They got breakfast stuff (Breakfast Sandwich and Cuban breakfast plate) not sure I'll make it for breakfast, but maybe.

I was excited to hear there was a casual Cuban food & bakery spot in Pleasant Hill! Especially as a fan of Porto's, I love a good potato ball or guava & cheese pastry. Ordered takeout here and food was ready on time. The place was empty at 6pm on a Saturday. Here's what we got: Habana Bowl (4/5) Overall I enjoyed this - the Ropa Vieja had good flavor but was somewhat hard to pull apart and tough to chew at times. Plantains and rice were tasty. Traditional Bowl - my fiancé had this and said it was very plain and flavorless. Potato Ball with pink sauce (4/5) - tasty! Doesn't even need sauce. Soft on the inside with meat at the center. Guava & Cheese pastry (4/5) - good flaky pastry with decent filling. The bowls are quite pricey, but they're a medium-large portion of food. Not sure if I would order the bowls again but I would like to try a sandwich and the croquettes if I do come back.

This was my first time visiting this restaurant. It is next to Pho Viet, which I've dined several times. I decided to check out Habana Express. The cashier lady was extremely nice and helpful. I was looking for a couple of sides to bring home since I made Jamaican oxtails for dinner. I ordered a large side of beans and rice, Maduros, ham and cheese croquettes and their guava cheese dessert. I was impressed with the flavors of everything. I will definitely come back to check out their entrees and sandwiches. They offer a couple of discounts during the week. AND, they are having a Thanksgiving special. I was fortunate to see the turkey.... They will be open for pre-orders of Thanksgiving specials only. SEE photos for information.

This place was solid. I had the Cubano and it was a hearty sandwich especially for the price. The ham and thick cut roasted pork were delicious. The bread the perfect texture and nice and crispy. I was slightly unimpressed with the cheese. It was more of an American cheese than a Swiss cheese but was melty and gooey in the best way. I also would have like a couple more pickles. The service was friendly and quick though I was there about 2pm and no one ahead of me in line so I didn't get to experience them at a busy time. The Cuban music and interesting phots and artwork provided a nice atmosphere for a deli setting. I will be back to try some of the other menu items and the Cubano again for sure.
